Toy Care & Hygiene
How to clean, store, and care for your toys so they stay safe and last longer.
Why care matters
Proper cleaning and storage prevent bacteria buildup, extend product life, and keep you safe. Body-safe materials are easier to care for—non-porous surfaces don’t trap germs.
Cleaning basics
Before and after every use
Wash with mild, fragrance-free soap and warm water. Rinse thoroughly. Dry with a clean towel or let air-dry before storing.
Deep cleaning
For silicone, glass, and stainless steel: you can boil for 3–5 minutes (check manufacturer instructions) or use a toy cleaner designed for body-safe materials. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive scrubbers.
What to avoid
Don’t use silicone-based lube on silicone toys—it can degrade the material. Avoid sharing toys without proper cleaning between uses. Don’t submerge toys with electronic components in water.
Storage tips
Keep toys separate: Store silicone toys away from each other—some can react and become sticky over time. Use individual pouches or cloth bags.
Cool, dry place: Avoid direct sunlight and humidity. A drawer or dedicated storage bag works well.
Lubricant: Store water-based lube in a cool place and check expiration dates. Discard if it changes color or smell.
Care by product type
Dildos & insertables: Clean before and after use. For non-porous materials (silicone, glass, steel), boiling or toy cleaner is ideal. Check if the toy has a motor before submerging.
Couples toys: Same rules apply—clean all surfaces. For vibrating or app-controlled toys, wipe the exterior with a damp cloth and avoid submerging the electronics.
Breast forms & packers: Follow the care guide for your specific product. Silicone forms can be washed with soap and water; avoid heat that could warp them.
When to replace
Replace toys if they develop cracks, tears, or an unusual smell (even after cleaning). Discoloration on silicone can be normal, but persistent odor or texture changes mean it’s time to retire the product.
Always check the product’s care instructions—manufacturers know their materials best.
